The HotPaw iChromatic Strobe Tuner provides a professional-grade tuning solution by utilizing the built-in microphone on your iPhone to deliver rapid and precise instrument tuning through an animated visual display.

For iPad users, the equivalent application is the iChromatic Strobe Tuner HD. Guitarists may find the HotPaw inTuna Strobe Guitar Tuner more suitable for their specific needs. Both applications are available for download from the iOS App Store.

iChromatic features a comprehensive interface that includes a real-time frequency readout alongside three highly accurate and responsive waterfall strobe panes, facilitating exceptionally precise tuning. When the waveform patterns align vertically and cease lateral movement within the strobe panes, it indicates that the input pitch (or a prominent harmonic) matches the frequency of the closest equal temperament note.

The waterfall strobe window visually represents minute frequency discrepancies: even slight deviations between the detected pitch and the target tuning note cause the waveform to subtly waver or drift sideways as it progresses downwards. The application also provides a pitch frequency readout in Hertz (Hz) and cents, with configuration options allowing adjustments to the Concert A reference frequency in both Hz and cents.

Potential users are encouraged to evaluate the free inTuna A440 app, also available on the iOS App Store, to gain insight into the advantages offered by strobe tuning technology before committing to purchase iChromatic.

The tuning range using the built-in iPhone microphone spans from two octaves above middle C to two octaves below.
